The Golden Rule of Locum Onboarding

The Golden Rule of Locum Onboarding

Recruiting and hiring permanent, full-time providers for a healthcare facility is a meticulous process that requires patience and diligence. Hiring locum tenens providers has all the same prerequisites – but with the added challenge of a tighter timeline.

Radar Healthcare Providers manages locum provider placement from start to finish. Since our primary goal is to make this process as simple and streamlined as possible, for both the facility and the provider, we have one golden rule: eliminate room for error.

A single mistake or missing document can delay a provider’s start date or complicate onboarding operations. Radar’s expert team scrutinizes every detail of a locum placement, ensuring that the two critical credentialing steps – facility privileging purposes and credentialing for anesthesia billing enrollment – are completed correctly and efficiently.

“Hospitals are processing a lot of applications at any given time, and each one has a long list of mandatory credentialing items,” said David Weiglein, Manager of Operations at Radar Healthcare Providers. “We save our clients time by doing the prep work for them. We draw up a clear checklist of what’s needed, facilitating primary source verification and collecting documents, and following up until everything is finished.”

We apply our golden rule to onboarding in two essential ways:

1. We manage both the credentialing process and timeline expectations.

Credentialing is complex and generally takes one to three months to complete. Radar is careful to estimate each locum placement timeline accurately so that there are no unwelcome surprises for providers or facilities. We use a sophisticated tracking system to monitor credentialing items, keeping clients informed about progress.

2. We handle logistics and travel plans.

Once credentialing is finalized, locum tenens providers also need travel and lodging arrangements resolved before they can start work. Radar manages all of these important logistics, taking each provider’s personal preferences into account and going the extra mile to meet their needs.

“We take pride in going above and beyond for our clients and providers,” said Weiglein. “We are always available to provide updates, answer questions, and solve problems. Our objective is to take care of all the details so that locum providers can get to work.”
